Design research & cultural understanding to identify new market opportunities
Identifying opportunities for mobile phone and photography.
Working with a Senior Design Anthropologist from Kodak’s Corporate Design and Usability division who visited the UK from the US headquarters a module of ethnographic research across the UK was carried out. The focus on the use of mobile devices and cameras. Research tools included using participant diaries, contextual interviews, home tours and participant observation.
The research was used to develop a historic baseline of the use of photographic devices by participants and understand the motivation of people who take photographs. The research also helped to identify how mobile cameras fit in with other cameras that people use to take photographs and understand how images are stored and shared.
